Harvest Operations is currently recruiting a Unit Operator, reporting to the Shift Lead. The Unit Operator is an active member of a team that is accountable for the safe, efficient operation in compliance with all applicable legislation, of all Field/Process/De-oiling equipment. The Unit Operator will also be part of a shift team responsible for the shift-to-shift operations of the BlackGold facilities. The Unit Operator is accountable for the SAGD Well Pair operation and associated Injection, Production and Testing facilities operations. They are also accountable for the operation of Source Water Wells and Observation Wells. The Unit Operator supports optimizing field efficiency and performance and troubleshooting during unusual or adverse conditions. This position works closely with other staff to ensure that all site equipment is operated and maintained safely, efficiently and in compliance with all applicable legislation. This is a full-time position based out of Conklin, AB.

What we are looking for

Our ideal candidate will have the following minimum qualifications:

2nd or 3rd-Class Power Engineering Certification. Preference will be given to 2nd class. Valid Class 5 Operator’s License, or equivalent. A Degree or Diploma in a related program such as Power Engineering, Mechanical, Petroleum, or Chemical is an asset. Minimum 3 years operations experience with a good understanding of process equipment used in SAGD operations such as: water-tube boilers, glycol heaters and systems, instrument/utility air systems, high pH mechanical vapour compressor evaporators, crystallizers, FWKOs, Treaters, diluent recovery, tank vapour compression, produced water de-oiling. SAGD or other commissioning and start-up experience is an asset. Ability to read and interpret facility drawings.

Self-motivation with a strong work ethic, good communication skills, and a positive attitude. Proficiency with personal computers, software applications, and facility control systems.

What you will do

Follow procedures and standards pertaining to SAGD operations. Monitor equipment performance, take corrective action, and initiate work requests for area of responsibility. Work in and take ownership of an area of the facility, such as steam, process, or field Authorize safe work permits for areas of responsibility. Develop operational safe work procedures and perform equipment Lock Out/Tag Outs. Troubleshoot equipment and process performance issues. Maintain all required safety certification. Committed to best practices in health, safety and environmental management.
