About this Position:
We are seeking a motivated Junior Mechanical/Piping Engineer to join our mechanical engineering team. This position offers an excellent opportunity to develop engineering expertise in the mining and hydropower industries, with involvement in challenging projects from conceptual design through construction. The role includes opportunities for domestic and international travel and field assignments.
The successful candidate will have a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering and be registered as an Engineer in Training (or eligible for registration) in the province of British Columbia. Applicants should have an interest or experience specifically with mechanical engineering of hydrotechnical systems, including pump systems and pipelines in industrial settings and 0-2 years experience. Applicants must have a valid BC Driver's License.
Responsibilities may include the following:
- Work collaboratively as part of a technical team on mechanical design projects in office and field environments
- Provide design and technical support for the layout, design, and specification of equipment for mechanical systems, with specific focus on piping and pumping systems for tailings and water applications
- Perform engineering design calculations using proprietary and commercial software tools
- Prepare technical reports, design drawings (i.e. P&IDs, general arrangements), procurement documentation, and specifications under the guidance of Project and Senior Engineers
- Develop mechanical systems designs from conceptual stage through to Issued for Construction documentation for domestic and international projects
- Interface directly with vendors and clients in a consulting environment
- Knowledge of AFT Fathom, HEC-HMS, Muck3D, or Plant 3D software is an asset
We place an emphasis on developing practical solutions to meet our Client’s needs, and preference will be given to individuals with excellent communication and interpersonal skills in addition to strong technical competence.
The estimated base pay range for this position is $75,000 to $85,000 CAD. The salary offered will be dependent on relevant knowledge, experience, and skill level. Total compensation and benefits also include the following:
