About The Role
We are looking for a highly skilled, versatile Heavy Equipment Operator who thrives on variety and precision. This position requires someone who can seamlessly transition between multiple machines, lead with technical expertise in GPS and blueprint reading, and step in with manual labour when needed to keep the site moving.
Note for Class 1 Drivers: We are looking for an operator who can haul their own equipment. A higher wage scale is offered for candidates with a Class 1 license and lowbed experience.
Key Responsibilities Precision Operation: Expertly run a variety of equipment including Dozers, Excavators, Skid Steers, and Loaders. Technical Accuracy: Utilize GPS machine control and interpret blueprints to hit exact elevations independently. Equipment Hauling: (For Class 1 applicants) Load, secure, and haul equipment to and from job sites using a lowbed or end dump. Mechanical Ownership: Treat our brand-new equipment as your own. This includes mandatory daily greasing and cleaning to maintain our high standards. On Site Problem Solving: Use your mechanical knowledge to troubleshoot and resolve minor equipment issues on-site to ensure zero downtime. Manual Labor: Be a team player willing to assist with groundwork, hand-digging, and site maintenance when machine work is not required. Winter Response: Maintain availability at any hour for emergency snow removal and hauling during the winter. Reporting: Maintain professional communication and report directly to the Excavation Manager.
What You’ll Need
Proven experience in commercial excavation or site development. Experience with GPS systems is considered a significant asset. Advanced ability to read and interpret site plans and elevations. Strong mechanical aptitude and a "team-first" attitude. Reliable on-call availability for winter operations. A Clean Driver’s Abstract and valid driver’s license. A reliable vehicle to get to job sites.
