About the role
We are seeking Technical Team Leads to own quality and delivery for our application-layer products. You will guide a compact team of 3-5 engineers developing educational applications serving thousands of students.
Potential Product Assignments Include
Athena: AI-powered video and assessment generation producing quantifiable learning gains TeachTap: AI-driven platform animating historical personalities within a TikTok-inspired educational interface TeachTales: Customized, enchanting narrative experiences enhancing reading comprehension TrashCat: Game-based learning platform transforming education into an engaging experience
This position balances two responsibilities equally: 50% direct implementation of sophisticated features, 50% mentoring and empowering your engineers. You define quality expectations, create architectural patterns, conduct code reviews emphasizing education, and facilitate professional development. Team results are your accountability, extending beyond individual contribution.
Lean team structure, substantial ownership, minimal overhead. Your leadership is technical; people management resides elsewhere.
What You Will Be Doing
Implementing sophisticated features that establish technical patterns for team adoption Conducting PR reviews delivering comprehensive, instructional commentary Developing engineers through pair programming and constructive feedback Orchestrating technical delivery and decomposing product requirements Defining quality benchmarks and maintaining team adherence
What You Won’t Be Doing
Handling personnel matters (recruitment, termination, performance assessments, professional development discussions) Building platform or infrastructure-layer systems Attending excessive meeting schedules Designing architecture divorced from hands-on execution

This is a full-time (40 hours per week), long-term position. The compensation level for this role is $100 USD/hour, which equates to $200,000 USD/year assuming 40 hours per week and 50 weeks per year. The payment period is weekly.
