Responsible for performing direct maintenance work for repair, adaptation, re-design, preventative maintenance and installation of all plant mechanical equipment, industrial machinery and infrastructure in accordance with the objectives of the Maintenance Department.
Major Tasks, Responsibilities and Key Accountabilities

Clean, lubricate, and replaces equipment as part of a preventative maintenance program.

Read blueprints, diagrams and schematic drawings, inspect, examine machinery and equipment to detect and investigate irregularities and malfunctions, and repair accordingly following work procedures and safety protocols.

Install, adjust, align, dismantle and move stationary industrial machinery and mechanical equipment, such as pumps, fans, tanks, conveyors, and generators according to layout plans using hand and power tools.

Operate hoisting and lifting devices such as cranes and jacks to position machinery and parts during the installation, set-up and repair of machinery.

Complete Maintenance work orders, PM tasks on equipment by due dates and makes the necessary suggestions to improve PM effectiveness based on root cause analysis.

Operate machine tools such as lathes and grinders to fabricate parts required during overhaul, maintenance or set-up of machinery.

Assemble machinery and equipment prior to installation using hand and power tools and welding equipment.

Perform other duties as required.
Nature and Scope
- Selects correct processes from clearly prescribed rules, past practices, or instruction. Seeks advice and guidance on non-routine or problem areas from supervisor. Deviations from the norm are cleared by the supervisor.
- Under close supervision, exercises limited latitude/independent judgment. Work typically involves detailed checks or close review of output by a senior coworker and/or supervisor.

Work Environment
- Usually located in a comfortable environment but with regular exposure to factors causing moderate physical discomfort, such as dust, fumes, or odors.
- Most of the time is spent sitting in the same position or standing/walking and/or there is some requirement to lift or handle material or equipment of moderate weight (8-20 pounds).
- Typically requires overnight travel less than 5% of the time.
Education and Experience
- Vocational/Technical School
- 6 Months but Less Than 1 Year
Preferred Qualifications
- Machine shop experience an asset.
- Actively enrolled in College/Skilled Trade Program with a Coop program.
- Ability to work independently and as a team.
