About the role

The Co-op Refinery Complex (CRC) is hiring 2 Lead Process Engineers on a permanent basis to work on-site in Regina, SK.

As a Lead Process Engineer at the Co‑op Refinery Complex, you’ll drive safety, reliability, and performance across the refinery while mentoring and influencing others. What you’ll do:

  • Lead complex process engineering initiatives to improve energy efficiency, throughput, reliability, and unit debottlenecking, ensuring compliance with regulatory and industry standards.
  • Develop and execute mid‑range process improvement plans using operational data, simulation tools, and performance monitoring to drive optimization and operational excellence.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship by reviewing and guiding process engineering deliverables including simulations, heat and material balances, PFDs, and P&IDs.
  • Serve as the process technology authority for a designated complex area (Utilities, Energy, Hydrogen, Hydro processing, Cracking, Crude, APC), supporting safe, reliable unit monitoring and troubleshooting.
  • Collaborate cross‑functionally to resolve process constraints and implement safe, cost‑effective improvements aligned with business objectives.
  • Strengthen process engineering practices through the development of internal standards, procedures, and KPIs informed by operational data, benchmarking, and RAGAGEP.
  • Provide front‑end process engineering support including concept development, design reviews, and economic evaluations for capital and operational improvement projects.

You will work closely with Lead, Senior, and Student Engineers on the Process Engineering team, partnering extensively with Operations, Projects, Maintenance, Reliability, and other key refinery stakeholders to deliver safe, reliable, and effective process solutions.

Who you are:
You are looking for a career in Engineering & Engineering Technology and:

  • Have 8+ years of relevant engineering experience within a refining, petrochemical, or heavy industrial environment
  • Have a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering or related field (a combination of relevant education and experience may be considered).
  • Are a registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng).
  • Are familiar with refinery process engineering across design, operations support, and optimization.
