About the role
Job Title – Test Engineer/Technologist
Department – Engineering
Reports to – Test Facility Manager
Job Summary
The Test Engineer/Technologist is responsible to work closely with the Test Facility Manager and the engineering team to support the development of new and existing down hole tools. They will be required to design, develop, test, install and/or operate equipment and systems. They will assemble and test prototypes, conduct applied research and compile and analyze data, and prepare necessary reports.
Key Areas of Responsibility
- Execute tests to verify prototype bottom hole assembles and well construction components with clear direction
- Build simple assemblies and test parts to verify they meet the design criteria
- Inspect and measure parts to ensure they conform to manufacturing drawings
- Continual maintenance of test lab equipment with some supervision
- Validate designs with engineering calculations, generate test reports underdirect supervision
- Perform analysis with engineering team to solve technical problems under direct supervision
- Actively participate in the continual safety of all employees within the facility
- Help to promote safe work practices and higher standards of performance
- Support and uphold HS&E policies and procedures of NCS and the customer
- Align individual goals with NCS’s corporate goals, while adhering to and promoting the NCS Promise
- Participate in your Personal Development for Success (PDS)
- Other duties, relevant to the position, shall be assigned as required
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Technical degree or diploma; required
- Comprehensive industry related experience, 1-3 years; preferred
- Direct work experience using pressure pumping equipment; preferred
- Knowledge on SolidWorks or similar 3D modelling software; asset
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suites
- Work with other teams and exhibit effective communication
- Self-motivated with excellent organizational and time management skills
- Hands-on approach to problem solving
- Ability to handle multiple priorities simultaneously with guidance
- Perform physical labour when necessary
- Ability to move or lift 25lbs – 50lbs
Additional Information
- Status: Overtime Exempt
- Employment Classification: Full-time, Regular
- Work Schedule: 5 days on, 2 days off, 8-hour shifts
- Travel: less than 5%
- Target Discretionary Bonus: Eligible

- Safety sensitive positions will require additional pre-employment testing
