Senior AI Software Engineering
About the role
We are seeking a highly experienced Senior AI Software Engineering professional to join a fast-growing team delivering enterprise-scale AI and machine learning solutions for leading clients within banking, financial services, insurance, and capital markets.
This is a hands-on senior engineering role focused on designing, building, and deploying production-grade AI/ML applications using modern AI frameworks, cloud technologies, and scalable data platforms. The ideal candidate brings strong technical depth, proven production delivery experience, and the ability to operate effectively in client-facing environments while helping guide technical direction and mentor developers.
This role is hybrid and requires attendance at our downtown Toronto office a minimum of 3 days per week, subject to change.
Your future duties and responsibilities
- Design, develop, and deploy production-ready AI/ML applications and intelligent systems.
- Deliver scalable AI solutions using modern AI/ML frameworks including LLM APIs, RAG architectures, and AI agents.
- Build high-quality Python applications using modern frameworks and best engineering practices.
- Develop and maintain data and feature pipelines using Databricks, Snowflake, or equivalent platforms.
- Support cloud-native AI deployments across AWS, Azure, or GCP environments.
- Contribute to MLOps best practices including CI/CD, Docker, Kubernetes, and observability.
- Provide technical leadership, mentor developers, and contribute to engineering best practices.
- Collaborate directly with stakeholders and present technical solutions to leadership teams.
- Demonstrate interest and potential for future leadership and management responsibilities.
Required qualifications to be successful in this role

Bachelor’s degree required.

7-8+ years of professional software engineering experience.

4-5+ years of hands-on Deep Learning experience.

Proven track record delivering production-ready AI/ML solutions and MVPs.

Strong Python expertise with experience using FastAPI, asyncio, and Pydantic.

Experience with modern AI technologies including LLM APIs, RAG, and AI agents.

Hands-on experience with Databricks, Snowflake, or equivalent data platforms.

Strong cloud and MLOps experience across AWS, Azure, or GCP.

Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines, and observability practices.

Strong communication skills with experience working in client-facing environments.

Previous experience within banking, financial services, insurance, capital markets, or related industries is strongly preferred.

**CGI is providing a reasonable estimate of the pay range for this role. The determination of this range includes factors such as skill set level, geographic market, experience and training, and licenses and certifications. Compensation decisions depend on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $115,000–$165,000. This role is an existing vacancy.**
