Kent is looking for an E&I Construction Coordinator to support the Saint John LNG (SJLNG) Project. This hybrid field role combines Electrical & Instrumentation construction coordination with quality assurance and quality control responsibilities to support safe, efficient, and compliant project execution. The successful candidate will work closely with Construction, Engineering, QA/QC, Commissioning, Operations, and subcontractors to coordinate daily field activities while verifying that Electrical and Instrumentation installations meet project specifications, client requirements, applicable codes, and quality standards. The E&I Construction Coordinator will assist with work planning, field execution, inspection activities, deficiency management, system turnover, and commissioning readiness, helping ensure construction progresses safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project quality requirements.

Responsibilities:
Construction Coordination
- Coordinate daily Electrical & Instrumentation construction activities with contractors, supervisors, engineering, QA/QC, and commissioning teams.
- Support field execution by ensuring work fronts are available, materials and documentation are in place, and construction activities remain aligned with project schedules.
- Monitor construction progress and identify constraints that may impact productivity or turnover milestones.
- Assist in coordinating field priorities, workforce requirements, and interface activities between multiple disciplines.
- Participate in daily coordination meetings, field walks, and planning discussions.
- Support construction supervisors in resolving technical and field execution issues.
- Promote safe work practices while maintaining compliance with project HSSEQ requirements.
QA/QC Inspection & Verification
- Perform Electrical & Instrumentation inspections during construction, installation, testing, commissioning, and turnover activities.
- Verify installations comply with IFC drawings, specifications, client standards, inspection test plans (ITPs), applicable codes, and quality procedures.
- Inspect cable tray installations, cable pulling, terminations, grounding systems, lighting, instrumentation tubing, impulse lines, field instruments, junction boxes, control panels, MCCs, switchgear, and associated E&I equipment.
- Witness testing activities including insulation resistance testing, continuity testing, loop checks, instrument calibration verification, and functional testing.
- Identify deficiencies, punch list items, and non-conformances, documenting findings and coordinating corrective actions with construction teams.
- Verify completion of corrective actions through re-inspection before turnover.
Turnover & Commissioning Support
- Coordinate with Commissioning and Operations teams to prepare systems for mechanical completion and turnover.
- Participate in system walkdowns and pre-commissioning inspections.
- Assist with tracking outstanding deficiencies to support system completion milestones.
- Coordinate resolution of construction and quality issues impacting commissioning schedules.
- Support commissioning readiness by ensuring required inspections and documentation have been completed.
Documentation & Reporting
- Review contractor quality documentation for completeness and compliance.
- Assist with project close-out documentation and final turnover packages.
Team Collaboration
- Act as the primary interface between Construction, QA/QC, Engineering, Commissioning, and subcontractors for Electrical & Instrumentation activities.
- Escalate technical or quality concerns that may impact safety, schedule, or project execution.
- Foster a collaborative, solutions-focused approach to resolving field issues.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives that enhance construction quality and project delivery.
In addition to the responsibilities listed herein, the employee may be required to perform other ad-hoc tasks as needed or directed by the supervisor or management. These tasks will be within the reasonable scope of the employee's skills, capabilities, and role within the organization. The intent of this provision is to allow for flexibility and adaptability in meeting the dynamic needs of the organization, ensuring that operational requirements can be met efficiently. All such tasks will be assigned considering the employee's current workload and with respect to their professional development.
Your knowledge/skills, education, and experience:
Knowledge/Qualification/Training/Certification:
- Technical diploma or post-secondary education in Electrical Engineering Technology, Instrumentation Technology, Construction Management, or a related discipline preferred.
- 5+ years of Electrical & Instrumentation experience supporting industrial construction projects.
- Experience in LNG, oil & gas, petrochemical, power generation, mining, heavy industrial, or EPC environments preferred.
- Previous experience in both field construction coordination and QA/QC inspection is highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of Electrical and Instrumentation construction practices, installation methods, testing requirements, and commissioning processes.
- Familiarity with turnover processes, system completions, and mechanical completion documentation.
- Working knowledge of CSA, CEC, NEC, ISA, IEEE, API, and other applicable industry standards.
- Experience reviewing drawings, specifications, P&IDs, loop drawings, wiring diagrams, and cable schedules.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Experience using turnover management systems, quality databases, Procore, Hexagon Smart Completions, Aconex, or similar project systems is considered an asset.
Communication:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to coordinate effectively with multiple disciplines in a fast-paced construction environment.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build productive relationships across project teams.
- Comfortable working independently while supporting multiple stakeholders.
