About the Role
Terracon is seeking Junior Technologists to support a variety of field-based projects including geotechnical and civil engineering, QA/QC construction monitoring, drill monitoring, geo-environmental monitoring, site investigations, foundation inspections, and soil and concrete laboratory testing.
This full-time, field-based role is ideal for recent graduates or early-career professionals looking to build practical, hands-on experience. Working alongside experienced technologists and engineers, you will develop strong technical and field competencies. An April or May start date is anticipated.
Location & Work Environment
- Primarily based in Fort McMurray
- Fieldwork includes 12-hour day and night shifts
- Work environments range from active mining sites to municipal infrastructure projects
Key Responsibilities
- Perform soil and concrete QA/QC testing and monitoring under supervision
- Assist with field inspections, earthworks monitoring, and concrete testing
- Verify construction activities meet project specifications and standards
- Accurately complete field reports and documentation
- Communicate effectively with project team members using two-way radio systems
- Drive company vehicles in active construction and mining environments
- Adhere to all safety policies, procedures, and site-specific requirements
- Support positive client and team relationships
Compensation
$31.00 – $33.00 per hour + overtime, depending on education and experience
What We Look For
- Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology, a degree in Civil Engineering or related field
- 0–2 years of relevant field or construction-related experience
- Legal authorization to work in Canada
- Valid driver’s license and clean driver’s abstract
- Ability to perform physical fieldwork and pass a fitness-for-work assessment
- Willingness to work in safety-sensitive environments and meet drug and alcohol testing requirements
- Strong work ethic, eagerness to learn, and a team-focused mindset
Additional Assets
- Winter driving or off-road driving exposure
- Safety certifications (BSO/CSO, H2S)
- Interest in professional membership (ASET or APEGA)
