Position Summary Join the Water Operations team as a permanent Journeyperson Industrial Mechanic / Millwright! Reporting to the Supervisor, and working alongside experienced professionals, you'll provide operational support and play a key role in maintaining and repairing critical infrastructure, including the asphalt plant, wastewater treatment plant, storm and wastewater collection systems, and water supply systems. If you're looking for a challenging role that keeps vital systems running smoothly, this opportunity is for you!Key Duties & Responsibilities Inspect, assess, monitor, maintain, service and operate equipment, systems and facilities such as but not limited to the wastewater and storm water lift stations, asphalt plant, wastewater treatment plant and water supply systems. Participate in development, modification and implementation of preventive maintenance programs, operating procedures, work processes and safety programs. Diagnose system defects, mechanical defects and/or equipment malfunctions and determine corrective action materials and supplies required. Provide input and recommend changes and improvements to work plans, programs, procedures, material standards and specification related to equipment, system and facility maintenance and operation. Supervise and direct staff and contractors involved in the mechanical maintenance, general maintenance, operations and servicing of equipment, systems and facilities. Interpret and communicate specification, blueprints, drawings, diagrams, work orders and city policies and standards to staff and contractors to ensure compliance with requirements. Operate machinist tools to manufacture parts and execute necessary maintenance and modifications as required. Monitor, control and respond to operational needs of lift station and SCADA monitored infrastructure. Perform welding as required in the repair and modification of components of equipment, system and facilities. Requisition and purchase materials and supplies within the limits of established authority. Ensure compliance of personnel, equipment, materials, contractors and consultants at work sites to meet Provincial Occupational Health and Safety Act, the City of Regina Occupational Health and Safety Manual, City of Regina Standard and Emergency Operating Procedures, and legislative and regulatory requirements. Perform related work as required. Key Qualifications Completion of Grade 12 and a Journeyperson Industrial Mechanic Certificate from a recognized institution. Minimum 2 years (4,000 hours) of industrial mechanic journeyperson experience. Thorough knowledge of industrial mechanical maintenance for equipment, systems, and facilities. Knowledge of mechanical processes, materials, equipment, maintenance methods, and preventative maintenance programs in municipal or comparable industrial environments. Knowledge of the Saskatchewan Occupational Health and Safety legislation and City of Regina safety requirements. Ability to safely operate, maintain, and service machine tools including lathes, drill presses, saws, grinders, and other hand and power tools. Ability to perform welding using oxy/acetylene and arc welding equipment. Ability to maintain accurate records and documentation. Proficiency with computer systems and Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, for data entry, reporting, and email communication. Ability to read and interpret mechanical and electrical diagrams, engineering drawings, specifications, work plans, and technical manuals. Ability to perform technical calculations, estimates, analyses, and evaluations. Ability to independently diagnose equipment and system issues and complete repairs. Ability to learn and operate required equipment and machinery. Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with employees, contractors, suppliers, and the public. Ability to train, direct, and provide technical support to others. Working/Other Conditions Must possess a valid Class 5 Driver's License. Willing to work shift and/or irregular hours and be on standby. May be required to respond to call-outs and emergencies as required. Must be willing to work from variable bases of operation. Must be able and willing to perform work of a physical nature (ie climbing ladders, heavy lifting, working in awkward positions, slippery positions, working at heights (up to 20 meters), working in confine spaces, etc.), in domestic sewage, dusty, dirty environments and in inclement conditions. Ability to safely operate vehicles on grid roads, lagoon dykes, pipeline right-of ways and well-field areas. The employee will be required to perform the duties of this position, both inside and outside year round. Must participate in training and be willing and able to complete recognized certification programs and courses to perform the work and maintain status. Additional Requirements: Successful candidates may be required to provide a satisfactory criminal record check per the City of Regina's Criminal Record Check Policy. Proof of education is required.
