THE OPPORTUNITY * Monitor and enforce Good Manufacturing Practices in facility. * Maintain adequate lab supplies for the department. * Positive Release of compliant products after HACCP record review. * Oversee environmental monitoring program for food contact and non-food contact lab testing. * Oversee calibration program and facility equipment * Perform quality inspections on raw or finished products at set frequency to ensure products/materials are within specifications. * Collect product samples for retention with continued review/ tracking throughout shelf life. * Sensory review tastings of the product with a panel of other staff to assess completed products compliance to physical/sensory standards. * Troubleshoot and segregate any materials found not compliant to quality standards. * Initiate corrective action to bring non-conformance back into compliance. * Issue Supplier complaints to non-compliant materials as identified. * Verify, run and calibrate technical equipment used for material testing like water activity meters, FOSS analyzer, scales and Temperature Data Loggers. * Inspect work in process to ensure quality specifications, SOP’s and SSOP’s are being followed in accordance with requirements. * Complete required testing, checks, swabbing, formulations and calibrations required. This includes the testing/auditing of the Air, Water, Equipment, Allergens, Glass/Brittle Plastic, ATP, packaging materials within the manufacturing environment at regular intervals. * Communicate regularly with other in the QA team and others within different departments either in person or via email. * Liaise with Production Team to provide guidance and input regarding GMP’s, product specifications or quality concerns. * Preform pre-operational inspection of equipment, as requested. * Some Saturday work will be required due to production demands. * Perform investigations into customer complaints or internal incidents. THE REQUIREMENTS * Science related degree/diploma or equivalent * SQF Practitioner Certification is preferred * Preference for those with prior Quality Assurance experience in a food processing facility * Knowledge/Understanding of HACCP principles * Proficient Computer skills (PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Outlook) * Excellent communication skills, both written and in person in a fast-paced environment. * Able to work under minimal supervision,as well as with a team. * Able to set priorities and work to meet pre-determined objectives.
