YOUR DAY TO DAY LIFE Position Summary We are looking for a Lab Technician 1 Microbiology - Fixed Term Contract in 4606 Canada Way, Burnaby, B.C. V5G 1K5 CAN. Your mission will be to: Perform sample preparation/extractions of target compounds under specific matrices and provide general laboratory support in the analysis of samples. Essential Functions And Responsibilities Review LIMS summary reports to plan and organize daily work Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) when conducting following work: ○ Perform sample preparation and procedures prior to analyses ○ Perform some basic testing procedures ○ Identify any non-routine samples and seek guidance on procedures for handling ○ Meet quality and TAT specifications required by the client and ensure samples are analyzed within holding time requirements Identify and communicate procedural non-conformances to Supervisor ○ Employ proper laboratory techniques to minimize risk of mislabeling, sample mix-up and cross contamination between samples and other materials ○ Provide general laboratory support Update supervisor/manager workstation status including advance notification of any delays ○ Support and comply with policies, Quality System and Health & Safety program ○ Participate, when requested in department and Health & Safety meetings Participate, when requested in internal and external audits ○ Keep work area clean, neat and organized Maintain training records and relevant qualifications ○ Other Duties As Required ○ At any time, the incumbent must behave and operate in an ethical and Code of Conduct compliant manner. YOUR PROFILE Qualifications Required Post-Secondary school education or equivalent experience Detail oriented with accurate record keeping skills.
