About the role
Education: Other trades certificate or diploma. Work setting: Various locations. Tasks: Load and unload goods. Perform pre-trip, en route and post-trip inspection and oversee all aspects of vehicle. Perform preventive maintenance. Tarping and ensuring safety and security of cargo. Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses : Class 1/1F/A Licence (semi trailer trucks). Class 3/3F/DF Licence (trailer truck, vehicles with more than 3 axles). Air Brake (Z) Endorsement. Driver's License (Class 1 or A). Driver's License (Class 3 or D). Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) Certificate. Documentation knowledge: Driver logbook. Inspection report (pre-trip, en-route, post-trip). Type of trucking and equipment: Dump truck. Tractor-trailer. Communication systems experience: Operate GPS (Global Positioning System) and other navigation equipment. Transportation/travel experience: Provincial/territorial. Short-haul. Security and safety: Bondable. Transportation/travel information: Own vehicle. Willing to travel for extended periods. Willing to travel overnight. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Handling heavy loads. Large workload. Weight handling: Up to 23 kg (50 lbs). Own tools/equipment: Cellular phone. Hard hat.
