While working in a team environment and under the direct supervision of Linear Design Head , shall also perform duties in conjunction with the President and General Manager to accurately and efficiently perform various technical activities related to the planning, design, construction and management of various design, study and construction projects for First Nations Engineering Services Ltd. (FNESL). Reports to the Linear Design Head regarding administrative and policy matters. Infrastructure types might include but are not limited to water and wastewater treatment systems, pumping systems, and piping. You will also do work site visits and assist in field work as required. You will provide support to other members of our team while working on a variety of projects in a collaborative team environment. The CAD Technologist is responsible for providing technical drafting, design, surveying, project coordination, and construction support services for a variety of civil, municipal, infrastructure, architectural, and engineering projects. The incumbent works collaboratively with Project Managers, Engineers, Architects, Field Staff, Clients, and external consultants to support projects from planning through construction and close-out. Technical Design, Drafting and Survey Support Conduct field surveys utilizing survey equipment to collect accurate measurements, site information, and topographical data. Research survey evidence, legal plans, maps, deeds, and related records to support project development. Prepare, develop, revise, and maintain engineering and architectural drawings using current versions of AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Revit, and other applicable design software. Produce 2D drawings and 3D models for municipal, civil, building, water, wastewater, stormwater, transportation, land development, and other infrastructure projects. Develop grading plans, right-of-way models, and construction models to support constructability and machine control applications. Collaborate with engineers, architects, project managers, and consultants to develop coordinated design solutions. Complete drawing revisions, drawing package updates, and quality control reviews to ensure accuracy and compliance with project requirements. Prepare specifications, quantity take-offs, cost estimates, material estimates, and technical documentation. Read, interpret, and review engineering drawings, specifications, contracts, standards, and technical documents. Prepare technical reports and other supporting project documentation as required. Project Coordination and Construction Support Assist Project Managers with project planning, scheduling, design coordination, and contract administration activities. Prepare contract documentation, change orders, payment certificates, record drawings, and other construction administration documents. Conduct site visits to collect field information and monitor construction progress. Perform construction inspections to verify compliance with approved drawings, specifications, applicable legislation, codes, standards, and contract requirements. Coordinate field reviews and inspections with clients, contractors, regulatory agencies, and specialty consultants, including environmental, geotechnical, structural, architectural, mechanical, and electrical disciplines. Participate in project meetings, site meetings, and design coordination meetings, including documenting meeting minutes and action items when required. Provide technical support during all phases of project delivery, including planning, design, tendering, construction, and project close-out. General Responsibilities Maintain knowledge of current construction practices, engineering standards, health and safety legislation, and applicable regulatory requirements. Operate survey equipment and provide technical guidance and field support during surveying activities. Maintain accurate project records, field notes, drawings, and documentation in accordance with company quality management procedures. Demonstrate strong organizational, analytical, problem-solving, communication, and time management skills. Work collaboratively within multidisciplinary project teams while managing multiple priorities and deadlines. Exercise sound professional judgment while maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail. Follow all company policies, procedures, and health and safety requirements. Maintain confidentiality of all company, client, and project information. Perform other duties consistent with the position as assigned by management. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES Proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Revit, and other applicable drafting and design software. Knowledge of surveying principles, survey equipment, GPS/GNSS equipment, total stations, data collectors, and related software. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, and PowerPoint). Knowledge of engineering drawing standards, drafting practices, and construction documentation. Understanding of civil engineering, municipal infrastructure, land development, and construction principles. Knowledge of applicable legislation, codes, standards, and health and safety requirements related to engineering and construction projects. Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and time management skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to work effectively with clients, contractors, consultants, and multidisciplinary project teams. Demonstrated attention to detail with the ability to produce accurate technical drawings and documentation. Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities while meeting established deadlines. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and collaboratively within a team environment. Knowledge of First Nations communities, cultures, governance, and project delivery considerations is considered an asset. Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and exercising professionalism in all aspects of work. BASIC REQUIREMENTS Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology, Engineering Technology, Architectural Technology, Surveying Technology, or a related discipline from a recognized post-secondary institution. Minimum 3–5 years of progressive experience in CAD drafting, design, surveying, or engineering consulting. Demonstrated proficiency with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Revit, and other applicable design software. Experience operating survey equipment, including GPS/GNSS equipment, total stations, and data collectors, is considered an asset. Experience supporting municipal, civil, infrastructure, architectural, or construction projects. Experience conducting field investigations, site inspections, and construction support activities. Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work. Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and meet project deadlines. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, and PowerPoint). Possess and maintain a valid Ontario Class "G" driver's licence with a satisfactory driving record. Willingness and ability to travel periodically to project sites, client meetings, training sessions, and other company locations. Ability to work flexible or extended hours when required to meet project schedules and client commitments. Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise professionalism in handling company, client, and project information. Salary Range: $55,000–$100,000 annually, based on education, qualifications, certifications, and related experience.
